Ethan Schonbrun
Engineering Group Lead
Instrumentation Laboratory, A Werfen Company
At the Rowland Institute, the Schonbrun Lab developed technologies for capturing 2D, 3D and hyperspectral images of cells in fast moving fluids. In addition to spatial and spectral information, they were also interested in performing quantitative measurements of other physical characteristics of cells, such as volume, protein mass, and oxygen tension. Resolving the distribution of different measurable parameters enables better understanding of not just mean values of a cell population, but subtle differences in the response of each cell to its environment.
